Abstract
Nitrogen losses from nitrification of fertilizer nitrogen pollution generated by nitrous oxide emissions and nitrate leaching. Brachiaria reports as biological nitrification inhibitor were evaluated to determine losses of nitrate Brachiaria CIAT 679 (indicator plant biological nitrification inhibition) and Panicum maximum cv. tanzania (plant no inhibitory). For the production of nitrate was used and incubated soil technique for losses of nitrate ion exchange resins used PRS™ Probes. The nitrogen treatments were 0, 150 and 300 kg ha-1 per year, the resins were installed at three depths in the soil laboratory analyzes were performed using ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy with wavelength of 410 nm for nitrate . B. humidicola reduced outputs of nitrate in the soil and not the nitrogen generated in the production variations, which showed an effect on the inhibition of the nitrification. Nitrate losses were reduced after 18 months in the B. humidicola, and P. maximum can avoid losses of nitrate by its ability to make ammonia-nitrogen soil, but does not reduce nitrate production, and that does not inhibit nitrification. The soils dedicated to livestock production with pasture B. humidicola can reduce yields and nitrate losses. P. maximum, for his skill and good response to nitrogen fertilization could reduce losses, but failed to reduce nitrate production.
