How Light Availability and Soil Organic Matter Affect Ecosystem Function in Lawns
Herrmann, D. L. and M. L. Cadenasso . 2012.
Abstract
This research used PRS™ probes to address the following question: how is nutrient turnover in lawn
ecosystems affected by the availability of light to the lawn surface and the level of organic matter in the
soil? This report presents a short overview of the work, the statistics used and the results in table form,
and a discussion of the results. I have also included a paragraph on my experience with PRS™ probes in
these lawns that are active sites seeing a lot of foot traffic and recreational use.
